The Trenner & Friedl SUN loudspeakers are bookshelf speakers that are available in a variety of finishes – including bespoke.
SUN, the most compact of the Trenner & Friedl range, has many things in common with its big brother RA – Both are designed to approximate the proportions of the golden section, and like RA, SUN relies on a coaxial driver for sound reproduction.
In the high-frequency domain, a 2.54 mm silk-dome tweeter works its magic, while the mid-bass cone is constructed with black-anodised aluminium and, with its 12cm diameter, delivers bass that is nearly as deep as RA – even though it naturally does not play as loud in this range as the bigger brother…
The Trenner & Friedl SUN does not interpret music, rather, it reproduces it: neutral, precise, and wonderfully coherent.
With its coaxial construction, SUN is designed to perfectly depict the room and space of the recorded event. Placement also raises no problems as SUN can be placed near the back wall and even feels at home in a bookshelf – its a really versatile loudspeaker.
You can easily lift SUN with one hand, but don’t be fooled by its compact size, as it delivers serious musical weight.
The design is a two-way vented coaxial system housed in a multiplex birch wood chassis of varying densities with a seven layer lacquer finish. The front panel is a veneer of either ebony (effect) or bamboo at an additional cost (£90.00). Internal wiring and terminals are by Cardas and the handcrafted crossover includes high grade Mundorf components.
The drive units are a single 4.7 inch aluminium cone with a one inch fabric dome.
Available cabinet finishes come in three options and price points plus there is a bespoke option with the SUN and some examples are shown in the product images. The price shown is for the Standard finish.
