    Trenner & Friedl RA loudspeakers

If your preference is for a relatively large stand mount loudspeaker then the Trenner & Friedl RA could be the perfect choice.

The RA was the original, standard-setting member of the Trenner & Friedl Natural Fidelity Line of high-end loudspeaker designs distilled to the essentials – technology and hand-craftsmanship in perfect harmony.

RA plays with power and dynamics – if desired, even at original volume levels. At the same time, RA maintains its delicate spirit, with a sensitivity for the finest nuance.

The in-house finished tweeter, also deployed in the reference model DUKE, is mounted concentrically at the heart of a twelve inch woofer, thereby achieving a stable, homogenous tonality, regardless of listening position.

Generally loudspeakers mostly employ surrounds made of rubber or foam, which over time through the evaporation of softeners and because of UV radiation eventually become porous and crumbly. The surrounds of many of Trenner & Friedl drivers are made out of fabric. This guarantees high stability, extended consistency, and exceptional longevity.

The cabinet is constructed from multiplex birch of varying densities with a multi layered lacquer finish with an integral base made of solid beech wood. Internal wiring and terminals are by Cardas and the handcrafted crossover includes the finest components by Mundorf, Oil/Silver caps, foil coils, and high grade MOX resistors.

    Features:

The high-frequency drivers, designed and developed in-house are something Trenner & Friedl are very proud of. They deliver an open, natural sound, with gentle and extremely fine nuances combined with powerful efficiency that can effortlessly reproduce a Hi-Hat at its original live volume, or even more.

A large neodymium ring-magnet drives a TiN (titanium-nitride) coated 1.75 inch titanium diaphragm. Titanium is particularly light, rigid, resilient and temperature and corrosion resistant. The coating is applied via PVD (physical vapour deposition) in a vacuum chamber.

This achieves an elasticity six times greater than titanium and twice as great as beryllium. TiN is used incidentally for coating tools and weapons. It is highly durable and offers optimal dissipation of heat.

This membrane, in combination with a large voice-coil, yields a light and highly durable driver, whose precise reproduction remains linear up to the highest frequencies.

Sound travels through a highly-sophisticated channel into a one inch horn mouth, which in the RA leads directly into the large horn of the coaxial bass driver.

The result is very, very linear output, even at the highest volumes. Extremely low distortion combined with high output ability.

The drive units are a single twelve inch paper cone, coated with oil lacquer and a 1.75 inch horn loaded compression driver, TiN coated titanium diaphragm.

A high sensitivity means that are suitable for low powered amplifiers.
