    Originally launched in 2020 the COS Engineering D10 is a 5-in-1 masterpiece that has already won a number of accolades from the industry writers.

    The COS D10 is a feature rich component of the highest quality. It is primarily a DAC and Preamplifier using the proprietary algorithms developed by COS in their original flagship D1. Add to this a high quality headphone amplifier and the standard model is a versatile component in its own right.

    Building on its versatility COS have also added two bolt-on modules that can be purchased at a later date, if required, and easily fitted by the customer. These are a streaming module and a phono board.

    All in all the COS D10 is a 5-in-1 component that incorporates a high level of future proofing with its modular design.

    COS algorithm, buffer and re-clocking:

    The COS proprietary algorithm with a linear-phase delay FIR filter can up-sample original data to 176.4K or 192K. The D10 stores digital data in a one second buffer before converting to analogue signals, under the coordination of a crystal oscillator with a jitter precision of less than 1ps and a dedicated re- clocking circuitry.

    MQA (Master quality authenticated):

    The D10 includes MQA technology, which enables you to play back MQA audio files and streams, delivering the sound of the original master recording. ‘MQA’ indicates that the product is decoding and playing an MQA stream or file, and denotes provenance to ensure that the sound is identical to that of the source material. ‘MQA.’ indicates it is playing an MQA Studio file, which has either been approved in the studio by the artist/producer or has been verified by the copyright owner.

    Headphone amplifier:

    The D10 is capable of driving headphones of high and low impedance. It has a pair of 3-pin XLR connectors that accommodate 2 unbalanced headphones or a single balanced one. An extra 4- pin XLR connector is included for balanced headphones.

    Streaming module (optional):

    Stable and quality streaming is available (either hard wired or wireless) for Tidal, Spotify, Deezer, and Qobuz. It is also DNLA and UPnP compliant. Setup is easy with the MConnect iOS and Android applications. The streaming module in D10 also takes care of MQA decoding. The latest version has a fibre connection as an option.

    Phono amplifier module (optional):

    There are 5 loading resistors and 3 loading capacitors, all selectable, to accommodate phono cartridges of your choice. Other features include a JFET input stage, on-board low-noise linear regulator, and handpicked components for RIAA curve matching and zero capacitor between audio signal paths. Extremely low in noise and distortion.

    Additional features:

    Two-layer housing – The D10 has an NCT internal chassis and an aluminium exterior. This design provides a fortified frame that results in lowered noise and minimised interference.

    Dual power supply – The D10 uses two-stage regulation to provide clean power. Two toroidal transformers power the digital circuit and the analogue circuit separately, thereby eliminating possible interference.

    Analogue input – There is both a balanced (XLR) and single ended (RCA) analogue input
